Whale Watching Package

One of the best things about visiting the Monterey Peninsula is the wealth of wildlife and sea creatures that you can experience firsthand. If the urge for a little adventure strikes you, take advantage of the Portola Hotel & Spa’s fantastic Whale Watching Package.  Winter is the high season for sighting theses “big guys” and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is one of the stopping points on their migration. The amazing depths of the Monterey Submarine Canyon provide the culinary fuel for their long journeys and this is a journey you want to experience.

Each whale watching tour is four to five hours long aboard a fully-equipped large vessel and is led by an experienced Marine Biologist from Portola’s partner and neighbor the Monterey Bay Whale Watching Center. The guide is there to answer questions and to help point out the multitude of marine wildlife you might see depending on the season. That may include; Gray Whales, Humpback Whales, Blue Whales, Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, Risso’s Dolphins, Northern Right Whale Dolphins, Common Dolphins, Killer Whales and Dall’s Porpoise.

Portola Hotel & Spa’s Whale Watching Package includes a night in a newly renovated guest room of your choice (based upon availability) two tickets to the tour, and Portola’s famous homemade chocolate chip cookie upon arrival. What’s even better is the chance to see your kids be truly amazed, create some awesome memories, all while taking part in their education.
