24 Hours in Monterey

Arrival & Check In:
Plan to arrive a little early, stow your bags before checking in and take some time to decompress and enjoy the view! Stroll along Fisherman’s Wharf, explore historic parks and adobes, or take a leisurely walk along the Coastal Recreation Trail – bring your camera and make sure to look out for sea otters, whale spouts, sea lions and seals. Do a little shopping, get a few souvenirs and make the most of your first Monterey Moment.

Check In:
First and foremost, enjoy your complimentary warm, chocolate chip cookie from our front desk staff. As you enter your guest room, make sure to take a moment to check out the view, order up a bottle of Monterey County wine or the bubbly, add on a few appetizers and relax out on the deck or patio.

Relaxation Time:
Before hitting the town for the night – make sure you schedule in some “me” time. If you made reservations in advance, enjoy a massage, facial or both at our Spa on the Plaza. If pool time is more your style, relax out by the pool and take a dip in the Jacuzzi.

Wine & Dine:
Our NEW restaurant, Jacks Monterey is the best spot in Downtown Monterey to indulge in the tastes of Monterey! Featuring, California-inspired cultural cuisine, Jacks Monterey has quickly become one of the hottest dining spots in Monterey. Start with cocktails by the fireplace or swanky bar area, then head into the atrium for dinner – and don’t forget dessert!

Downtown Monterey:
Make sure to ask our concierge about tickets for live entertainment at the Golden State Theater or special events at the Monterey Museum of Art, Dali17 Museum and other local, special events.

Nightcap:
End the evening with a nightcap at Jacks Monterey or see what’s going on at Monterey’s original Craft Brewery, Peter B’s Brewpub, located right behind the Portola. Both hotspots, feature late night eats and of course, drinks!

Good Morning:
Get in your morning workout at our onsite, state of the art, Fitness Center. If you are looking for something outdoors, run along the Coastal Recreation Trail or rent a stand-up paddle board from Adventures by the Sea and take advantage of the sea’s glassy conditions early in the morning.

The Most Important Meal of the Day:
Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, indulge in the European-style buffet, complete with a made-to-order omelet bar at The Club Room. Sit in the dining room, or outside on the heated, pet friendly patio. If you are joining us over the weekend, don’t miss out on Sunday Brunch at Jacks Monterey. Served from 11:30am-3pm every Sunday, savor entrees like Carl’s Skillet Fried Chicken and Waffles, California Benedicts and more; in addition enjoy live music and Jacks’ Booze Buggy Beverage Cart serving up Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Tequila Sunrises and Screwdrivers.

Checking Out:
It may be time to check out, but that doesn’t mean that your Monterey moment needs to end! Take a drive down to Big Sur along scenic Highway One or visit the Point Piños Lighthouse in American’s last hometown, Pacific Grove. Shop upscale boutiques in Carmel-by-the-Sea or visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium on historic, Cannery Row.
