Beat the Heat & Head to Monterey
It's easy to be "cool" at the Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey, Ca this summer! Beat the heat and head to the coast for beach days and coastal fun. With average summer temperatures ranging from 50 degrees to 70 degrees, the Monterey Peninsula is an ideal destination for summer travel. Though evenings may require a light jacket, there's no better place to catch breathtaking sunsets while sipping Monterey County wines on white sand beaches.
Head out to sea by kayak, a chartered sailboat or book a whale watching tour and enjoy the cool ocean breeze while taking in the sights. Spot sea lions, seals, whale tails, and even sea otters. Stand up paddle boarding is even available in sheltered coves near Old Fisherman's Wharf.
Go "under the sea" at the Monterey Bay Aquarium – take a walk along the coastal recreation trail to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Enjoy breathtaking views out on the decks then head inside and gaze at exhibits like the Open Sea, Tentacles, Sea Otters, ¡Viva Baja!, the Kelp Forest and so much more!
