So, you’ve planned that much needed weekend getaway and you want to make the most of every magical Monterey Moment! We know how precious your time is and here at the Portola Hotel & Spa, we have some wonderful ideas of how to get the most out of your next visit to Monterey!

Arrival: Friday Evening
-Check in and enjoy the amazing warm chocolate chip cookie
-Head up to your room, take in the coastal air and take a moment to decompress
-Enjoy a casual dinner at Peter B’s Brewpub – take a moment to unwind, sample house made craft beer flights and delicious pub fare
-After dinner take a moonlight stroll along the Wharf, after, walk down the street along Downtown Monterey’s Alvarado Street, enjoy handcrafted, organic ice cream at Revival Ice Cream
-Grab a night cap or late night eat and cozy up at our lobby bar, Jacks Monterey
-Sleep in and either order breakfast in or indulge in our Breakfast Buffet in The Club Room – don’t miss out on the made-to-order omelet bar (P.S. – the sunrises are kind of amazing, so if you’re an early riser, don’t miss out)
-Walk outside our doors and consider renting beach cruisers or a Surrey bike from Adventures by the Sea and ride along the Coastal Recreation Trail towards historic, Cannery Row
-Park your bikes and experience the magic of the Monterey Bay Aquarium
-Since relaxation is an important theme of your getaway, after your bike ride back to the Portola, enjoy some “me” time at our Spa on the Plaza. Book a massage, facial or both, then after, relax poolside
– On your way back up to the room, stop at Sovino Wine Bar & Merchant next to the spa, and pick up a nice bottle of Monterey County Wine to bring back up to your room
-Head back to your room, relax for a bit, enjoy a glass (or two) of wine
-It’s dinner time, enjoy the best in authentic California Cultural Cuisine at our NEW Jacks Monterey restaurant, located in the lower lobby, stick around after dinner for fireside cocktails in the bar area
-Catch a live show at the Golden State Theater, an indie film at the Osio Cinemas or live music at one of the lounges and clubs along Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey
–After of course, sleeping in a bit, step outside and enjoy a sweet or savory crepe at Crepes of Brittany out on the Portola Plaza
-Walk off your breakfast by visiting the nearby adobes and gardens including the Memory Garden at the Pacific House or Old Whaling Station Garden set in Heritage Harbor
-It may be check out time, but after there’s still time to stroll on over to the Dali17 Museum and get surreal as you explore the dynamic works of renowned artist, Salvador Dali
