Dog Adoption Family Day & Evening Charity Dinner

We are proud to partner with Titos Vodka to create a Paw-ty your entire family can enjoy. October is National Adopt a Dog month, and at the pet-friendly Portola Hotel & Spa we are giving you an opportunity to adopt a dog or a kitten, enjoy our newly renovated outdoor terrace, and much more!

The Paw-ty for families, dog adoptions, and afternoon activities is Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12pm to 3pm is a free event open to the public.

Entertainment & Activities

102.1 KRML will be broadcasting live, and there will be an array of children’s activities available including Face Painting, a Character Artist, and a self-guided treasure hunt.

Food & Drink Specials

Enjoy Titos drink specials at the Titos tent for the 21 and older. Proceeds from Titos drink specials will go to AFRP. Food specials include Two Tacos, a Hot Dog or Cheese Nachos for $5. And if you are bringing your furry friend we have Bark Bowls on the menu for $6.

Adopt a Dog or a Kitten

Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP) will be at the Portola Hotel & Spa, Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12pm to 3pm with adorable kittens and lovable dogs who need a happy home. Visit the AFRP team and say hello to all the animals available for adoption. A brief overview of the AFRP adoption process and pricing is as follows:

  • Kittens are available to a qualified home for day of adoption | $150 per kitten
  • Dogs adoptions require a home check appointment and an opportunity to meet animals living at the home | $150 - $300 per dog

Pricing includes spay or neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations. Must be 21 or older to adopt an animal from AFRP. For animal photos, bios, and additional information visit animalfriendsrescue.org.

Partnering with Titos Vodka

Dine at Jacks Monterey or Peter B’s Brewpub October 1-31, 2019, and enjoy a Pomeranian Lemonade with Titos Handmade Vodka, Lemonade, and Pomegranate Juice for $10. Portola Hotel will donate a $1 from each Pomeranian Lemonade sale to Animal Friends Rescue Project and on October 19th 100% of Pomeranian Lemonade sale proceeds will be donated.

Charity Gala for AFRP & Doggie Fashion Show

Saturday, October 19, 2019 | 6pm to 10pm | De Anza Ballroom

The Portola Hotel & Spa and Titos Vodka are proud to support Animal Friends Rescue Project. AFRP needs the community’s support to effectively rescue, nurture, and find happy homes for the dogs and cats. The evening will include a silent auction, reception with hand-passed Hors d’Oeuvres, doggie fashion show, three-course dinner, and dancing with DJ Scott.

Pricing & Tickets

Portola Hotel will donate 10% of proceeds to Animal Friends Rescue Project. Pricing includes admission to the doggie fashion show, a drink ticket, three-course dinner, and dancing.

Doggie Fashion Show

Following the welcome reception guests of the Animal Friends, Rescue Project Charity Gala will enjoy a doggie fashion at 6:30pm inside the De Anza Ballroom at the Portola Hotel. Hosted by our MC for the evening, Aaron Groff, Evening News Anchor for KION 5/46 News, these adorable furry contestants will have an opportunity to compete in up to four categories:

  • Tito’s Halloween Dress (Copper-black-crème & orange inspired costumes)
  • Busy as a Bee (Insect themed costumes)
  • Lookalikes (Matching dogs & owners)
  • Awesome Accessories (Hats, bandanas, ties, bows, etc.)

The judges for the evening include Steve Snider, Editor, Carmel Magazine, Deborah Luhrman, Editor & Publisher, Edible Monterey Bay Magazine, and Christina-Lauren Pollack, Creator & Lifestyle Editor, Inspirations and Celebrations.

The winner of each category will take home a one night stay gift certificate to the pet-friendly Portola Hotel & Spa.

Participation in the doggie fashion show is free. Should dog owners wish to attend the charity, a ticket to the event must be purchased and dog care must be arranged. No dogs are allowed at the charity dinner.
