Monterey's First Craft Brewery and Number One Sports Bar Gets a New Look

Monterey, CA - January 28, 2025 - Portola Hotel & Spa, Monterey's premier coastal-inspired hotel, announces a $1.8 million renovation of its on-site brewery, Peter B's Brewpub. The renovation to the longtime local's favorite is set to begin on Monday, February 10, and will overhaul the brewery's 4,880-square-foot space, including the main restaurant, bar, and patio. Following the renovation, the venue will simply be known as Peter B's.

Led by RoseBernard Studio, the renovation draws inspiration from the rugged Monterey coastline. The updated design seamlessly blends the raw beauty of the coast with the meticulous craft of brewing, using natural materials such as wood, stone, and copper to invoke the spirit of Monterey Bay. The resulting aesthetic will provide an inviting ambiance, perfect for sports fans to gather, and families and friends to congregate after work or over the weekend, celebrating the craft of brewing while immersed in the beauty of Monterey.

Robert Polacek, Creative Director and Partner at RoseBernard Studio, shared his vision for the redesign, stating, "Our goal for Peter B's was to craft a space that not only reflects the unique landscape and spirit of Monterey, but also enhances its functionality as a social hub. By integrating tactile, natural materials and maximizing the interplay of light and space, we aim to create an environment that ensures every visit is a memorable experience for guests."

Peter B's will close to the public on Monday, February 10. However, the brewery's beer will still be available at local restaurants, including Jacks Monterey. During the closure, the brewery team will be actively making sales calls to add Peter B's beers to additional local restaurants. All brewery orders can be directed to brewery@portolahotel.com, and the list of locations serving Peter B's brews is available on the Portola Hotel & Spa website at portolahotel.com. The renovation is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
