Join us for breakfast and indulge in our European breakfast buffet. Known for having the best salad bar on the Monterey Peninsula, try Jacks for lunch on our outdoor heated patio or sit in our nautically-inspired, fireside dining room. Venture back for an evening of gourmet delights, created by Executive Chef, Jason Giles.
Our new menu designed by Chef Giles, features some of our most popular dishes including Harris Ranch Beef and our Friday and Saturday Prime Rib Dinners. Indulge in new favorites like Filet Mignon Carpaccio with Burrata Cheese, Greek Olives, Shaved Red Onion with a Horseradish Crème Fraîche and Portola Day Boat Scallops served over Black Pepper Pappardelle Pasta with Wild Mushrooms and a Shallot Nage. Each evening Jacks also offers a Catch of the Day entree during dinner service and as always as members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program®, guests of Jacks Restaurant & Lounge can be assured our seafood is always sustainable and ocean-safe.
In addition to exquisite entrees and appetizers Jacks recently unveiled a new Oyster Bar and Live Action Kitchen where guests can choose from three different oyster options including Baked Oysters Rockefeller, Seasonal Oysters on the Half Shell with a Shallot Mignonette and Barbecued Oysters served with a Chipotle Wash. Sip fabulous Champagne and hand-selected sparkling wines by the glass and look-on as our culinary team prepares delectable salads and appetizers like our Crispy Dungeness Crab Cakes and Pacific Cod Ceviche.
Pair your meal with a selection from our extensive wine list that highlights Monterey County's diverse viticulture tradition, or complement your selection with handcrafted coffee from Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Company, the only Certified Organic coffee roasting company on the Monterey Peninsula. Nothing says “I Love You” more than Mom not having to cook! Join us for our annual Mother’s Day Brunch at Jacks Restaurant prepared by Executive Chef Jason Giles, perfect for the entire family.
Our delectable brunch menu with endless MIMOSAS just for Mom features: Quiche Lorraine, Roasted Salmon with Tropical Salsa, Chicken Pinot Blanc, and Champagne Poached Prawns (just to name a few) - accompanied by a variety Assorted Seasonal Salads. In addition, make sure to visit our carving station showcasing New York Strip Loin with a Horseradish & Au Jus. Make sure to leave room for dessert as you indulge in our Dessert Bar boasting Assorted Cakes, Tortes, Mini Tarts, Mousse, and Petit Fours.

Wine Dinner July 31st featuring J.Lohr Vineyards
J.Lohr Vineyard has teamed up with Jacks Restaurant & Lounge’s Executive Chef Jason Giles for a Wine Dinner on July 31st. The wine dinner will feature 4 courses carefully paired with J.Lohr wines.

Executive Chef Jason Giles
|Executive Jason Giles is at the helm of all the Portola Hotel & Spa’s culinary operations, including menu development for the hotel’s two restaurants—Jacks Restaurant & Lounge and Peter B’s Brewpub—as well as the creation of menus for in-room dining, banquets and special events. Inspired by his mother’s love of cooking and culinary greats including Julia Child and Jacques Pepin, Chef Giles graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and immediately went north to Sonoma, where he worked at the Grill at Sonoma Mission Inn (now the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa). Prior to leading the culinary team at the Portola, Chef Giles was a Sous Chef at The Lodge and Pebble Beach, where he played an active role in the development and opening of Stillwater Bar & Grill.|
The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch® Program
The Portola Hotel & Spa is a proud member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch® Program. Seafood Watch empowers seafood consumers and businesses to make choices for healthy oceans. The program works to transform seafood markets in ways that create incentives for sustainable fishing and fish-farming practices. Key elements of the program include public education efforts to raise consumer awareness about sustainable seafood issues, primarily through distribution of Seafood Watch® Pocket Guides; and outreach efforts with businesses: retailers, restaurateurs, major buyers and other seafood purveyors first to educate them about the issues surrounding seafood and ocean ecosystem impacts and secondly to shift their purchases in favor of sustainability.
