Portola Hotel & Spa Announces Reopening of Peter B's After a $2 Million Makeover

Monterey, CA - June 11, 2025 - Portola Hotel & Spa is proud to announce that Peter B's, Monterey's original craft brewery, will officially reopen on Thursday, June 26, following a $2 million renovation. The refreshed space marks a new chapter for the beloved local hangout, with an updated look, a bold new menu, and the same welcoming spirit that's made it a community favorite for over 25 years.

To celebrate reopening night, guests can enjoy $5 drafts and bar bites during Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m., with a live performance by TNT & The Explosions from 6-9 p.m. The show also marks the kickoff of Peter B's Thursday Night Summer Music Series, running weekly through October.

Peter B's returns with a bold new menu and fresh lineup of house-brewed beers, staying true to its roots while embracing a vibrant, modern flavor. Guests can expect American comfort food with a coastal twist, with new items including Prime Rib Chili Nachos, Maitake Mushroom Wings, and a range of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, salads and bowls. Behind the bar, Head Brewer Natalie Mika brings her wine and viticulture background to the forefront with award-winning brews like the Inclusion Amber Ale, plus inventive new offerings: a Raspberry Wheat with Marionberry and Chamomile, a White Peach Sakura inspired by cherry blossoms, and a Chocolate Oatmeal Stout brewed with ReGenMalt, a climate-smart grain that supports regenerative farming and local supply chains.

Whether you're coming for the 22 HDTVs on game day, relaxing with a pint on the heated, pet-friendly patio, or gathering friends in the private Barrel Room, Peter B's delivers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. With plenty of spacious seating, a kid-friendly menu, and a casual, come-as-you-are atmosphere, Peter B's also makes it easy for families to feel right at home. Peter B's is open Thursday through Monday from 4-10 p.m., with bar service extended to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Guests can take advantage of $5 specials during Happy Hour and Yappy Hour from 4-6 p.m., and at Late-Night Happy Hour from 9-10 p.m. Locals and military personnel enjoy 15% off food, and football fans can kick off Sunday early during the season with breakfast starting at 9:30 a.m.

The renovation, led by RoseBernard Studio, blends raw coastal materials like wood, copper, and stone to create a warm, modern environment that celebrates both Monterey's rugged beauty and Peter B's brewing roots. A standout design element is the custom reclaimed wood table in the Barrel Room crafted by local artisan Todd Wilde using Randazzo Salvage wood and inspired by the wine barrels once used to age Peter B's beers. It's a striking blend of sustainability, local craftsmanship, and storytelling—just like Peter B's itself.
