Today Show Coverage

As the editor of Central Coast Living, I try to bring a little slice of the Monterey Peninsula to our readers near and far. Sometimes it’s events and tips on travel to our area. Other times, it’s specials at the Portola Hotel & Spa or a new GREEN program they are initiating. While helping to promote this area is something I am passionate about, it’s seeing someone else helping to promote this area that gives me an even bigger thrill.

I see travel articles and blurbs about the Monterey Peninsula come across my desk every month, but it’s not often our area gets the kind of exposure we did on the Today Show last week. During a segment titled “Fun Family Getaways for Spring Break”  Our very own Portola Hotel & Spa’s Portola Pirates Program was featured and Today correspondent, Nilu Motamed from Travel + Leisure magazine had a number of great things to say not only about the Portola Pirates Package, but the hotel itself.

Our area is known the world over, but when a nationally televised program with the stature of the Today Show promotes a locally-based family-friendly property, it gives you a great sense of pride. So whether you are coming from across the country or across the street, check out the Portola Pirates Program.

Have some family fun and an old fashioned swashbuckling good time at the Portola Hotel & Spa!

There is nothing better than a well crafted beer. Even better, is learning about that beer from the actual brewer! SF Beer Week  just wrapped up and after 300 events over 10 days, we got the inside scoop from our Brewer, Kevin Clark and Assistant Brewer, Carrie Machen.  Hosted by Tied House and Hermitage in San Jose, the 3rd Annual “Meet the South Bay & Santa Cruz Brewers Event” showcased craft beers from the Santa Cruz and South Bay regions of California and Peter B’s was there to represent the Monterey Bay.  It was a fantastic and fun event for brewers and beer enthusiast alike.   Kevin and Carrie remarked how it was a great atmosphere with so many great beers and the brewers themselves pouring their own beers. Both were excited to be a part of the sold out event and are looking forward to next year’s event.
