Pet Friendly Perks at the Portola & Around Monterey

Guest Post by Charlie the Labradoodle

Woof! My name is Charlie and I’m a 3 ½ year old Labradoodle and I live on the Monterey Peninsula with my bark-tastic family! I’m a very happy dog because I got to check out the coolest pet perks at the Portola Hotel & Spa. First, I was greeted with a delicious homemade dog biscuit. Then, I received my very own letter from the Pet Concierge (my owners had to read it to me though). The Pet Concierge offered to help me find a sitter, someone to walk me if needed and vet recommendations, just in case!

From there, we walked on over to Jacks Restaurant & Lounge, where I got to hang out with my family as they enjoyed breakfast. They treated me like a VIP (Very Important Pooch) and the server even brought over a fresh bowl of water while I relaxed right by my dad and mom. No having to go sit in my crate or the car at this place! After breakfast, we walked all along the Coastal Recreation Trail and I got to check out all the boats and I even saw a whale tail!

After my walk, we jumped in the car and drove into quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea. They love dogs because the even have a Fountain of Woof at the Carmel Plaza and a doggy boutique, appropriately named Diggidy Dog with the most stylish collars and leashes I’ve ever seen! Every boutique we walked into, greeted me with lots of pets and I felt that King of the Doodles! Later in the day, I got to also check out the shops at pet friendly, Del Monte Center in Monterey, then some cool galleries along Portola Plaza. Our day finished with a beach walk and an awesome sunset at Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove.

It was so fun, being treated like a member of the family wherever we went. The Monterey Peninsula and Portola Hotel & Spa welcomed us with open paws!
