Rm Sotheby's Spectacular 2021 Monterey Car Auction -guest Blog By Rm Sotheby's

RM Sotheby's flagship Monterey auction is the longest-standing tradition of the Monterey Car Week and this year, RM Sotheby's is thrilled to present a three-day auction weekend event.

Offered almost entirely without reserve, The Paul Andrews Collection will kick-off the auction on Thursday,  August 12th. The collection consists of cars perfectly suited for driving and rally events with many having logged 1000s of miles on some of the world's most fun and exhilarating vintage rallies. Featuring outstanding and extraordinarily rare Aston Martin exotica, such as a 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT by Zagato and 1959 Aston Martin DB4GT Lightweight, and stunning examples of many other marques spanning more than 90 years of automotive history, such as the 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton.

Friday, August 13th will see another stunning 74 lot offering, with examples that completely embody the spirit of vintage competition from the exceptional The Peter Giddings Collection, while the second day is also fueled with Ferraris, featuring a pair of historic competition greats – the 1962 Ferrari 268 SP and 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione.

The offering of a motorsport icon will take place Saturday, August 14th as what is often referred to as ‘the world's greatest sports and racing car' – the 1970 Porsche 917 K – headlines the auction. Its inclusion in the auction is nothing short of spectacular and RM Sotheby's is thrilled to be able to present the 917K in Monterey, where it can be fully appreciated in person by visitors to the Portola. In addition to this bona fide Le Mans Legend, many other important sports, classic cars, and single-owner collections will cross the block on Saturday – featuring a 1959 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Coupe Series III, 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta "Tour de France", and 1983 Porsche 956 Group C – all of which represent the peak of the collector car market.
