From yoga to beach runs, cycling to the treadmill – it’s all right here at the Portola Hotel.

Spa & Fitness Center

Hotel and spa guests can take advantage of our on-site fitness facilities complete with steam room, sauna, outdoor pool, and Jacuzzi. Guests also have access to separate men’s and lady’s locker rooms. Inside the Fitness Center work out with Nautilus resistance weight training equipment, free weights, Cybex cardiovascular machines, as well as a separate yoga studio for self-guided, daily practice. Spa services are also available at our Spa on the Plaza.

Run, Bike, Walk or Head Out to Sea

The Coastal Recreation Trail just steps from our doors, stretches 18 miles from Pacific Grove to Castroville. Much of the trail boasts ocean views and is ideal for a morning run or bike ride. Bicycle rentals are available on-site at the Portola out on the Plaza at Adventures by the Sea. Adventures by the Sea also offers stand up paddle board and kayak rentals at their other location on historic, Cannery Row.

The Monterey Sports Center

Just a few blocks from the Portola, the city run, Monterey Sports Center offers a variety of classes from Zumba to yoga, barre to water aerobics, Pilates, and more. The facility also has a weight training center, cardio fitness center, and two indoor pools. Personal training is also available by appointment. Beach Runs

Also, within walking distance to the Portola is Monterey State Beach. This long stretch of white sand beach is perfect for a run any time of day. Enjoy views of the bay and you may even catch a glimpse of sea otters or pods of dolphins. This beach is also dog friendly. Note: you may recognize this beach from HBO’s Big Little Lies!
