The Carmel Bach Festival is a classical concert series that happens annually in the month of July in Carmel-by-the-Sea and in the greater Monterey Peninsula area. This renowned festival began in 1935 and has grown from a four-day series of concerts into a two-week celebration of the works, inspiration, and influence of Johann Sebastian Bach. Art Galleries in Carmel-By-The-Sea

If you love art or are looking to add another piece to your collection, then Carmel-by-the-Sea is a must visit as this picturesque town is filled with amazing art galleries. With art galleries such as Gallery-by-the-Sea Carmel, Zantman Art Galleries, and New Masters Gallery,  you will find original art created by local Monterey County artists. Monterey Jazz Festival

Founded in 1958, the Monterey Jazz Festival is the longest continuously-running jazz festival in the world and is held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds every September. With nearly 2,900 performances since the festivals opening, there have been many unforgettable weekends of music from both iconic stars and hidden gems, helping to bring the music community together with spectacular jazz music.  Described by the San Jose Mercury news as, “It’s a mood, a party, a tribal gathering, an improvisation and a cultural colossus”, this is a must attend music and cultural event. The Big Sur Food & Wine Festival takes place in the gorgeous backdrop of the Big Sur Coastline with events such as Sip & Saunter at Post Ranch, Bubbles & Brushes in the Redwoods, Corks & Forks, and more over this multi-day festival. This festival gives you a once-in-a-lifetime way to experience Big Sur. Monterey Museum of Art

Monterey Museum of Art is a hidden gem of California art, being the only California art museum devoted to visionary artists of the central coast and giving visitors a unique look into the art and history of the Monterey area. The Monterey Museum of Art was founded in 1959 and has a permanent collection made up of over 10,000 works with 15-20 different exhibitions a year, so there will always be something new for you to discover with many different events happening year-round. Located on Alvarado Street Mall (with access through the Portola Hotel & Spa) is the amazing Venture Gallery. Steinbeck Center

Located in John Steinbeck’s hometown of Salinas, California, is the National Steinbeck Center which offers visitors three unique experiences focused on literature, history, agriculture and art through interactive and sensory exhibits. With first edition Steinbeck novels, rare artifacts, newspapers and interviews, visitors get a unique look into this esteemed author. There are also seven themed theaters that allow guests to explore Steinbeck’s world and his most celebrated works including East of Eden, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, and The Grapes of Wrath. With over 40 events a year, the National Steinbeck Center focuses on Steinbeck’s mission to encourage and support literature, the arts, and other humanities focused causes.
