With the fall season in full swing and Halloween approaching soon, there are many fun (and scary) fall and Halloween events & activities in Monterey for you to get you in the Halloween spirit. Whether you are looking for a spooky ghost tour or for family friendly events, there is something fun and festive for everyone.

Monterey Ghost Tour

If you love the paranormal, and want a thrilling tour filled with history and scary stories, this activity is perfect for you. This one-hour tour will take you through historic spots of Monterey while teaching you about the haunted past behind this town. Keep your eyes peeled for ghosts while you explore abandoned theaters, haunted buildings and old jails. Halloween on the Wharf

Head down to Old Fisherman’s Wharf on October 31st from 4-7pm to take part in Halloween on the Wharf! This fun and free event is for all ages and includes trick-or-treating where guests can receive sweet treats from participating merchants, sneak a photo with a witch at a fun photo op, listen to some spooky Halloween music and take part in a costume contest at 5pm where contestants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes!

Pumpkin Plunge and Dia de los Muertos Family Evening

Join the fun on Sunday, October 27th, from 4pm to 8:30pm at the Sports Center for a one-of-a-kind fall celebration! Kick off the evening with the beloved Pumpkin Plunge, where families can dive into a pool full of floating pumpkins, a seasonal favorite for all ages. Then, from 6pm to 8:30pm, immerse yourself in the vibrant music, dance, and traditions of Día de los Muertos. Celebrate this meaningful holiday and enjoy a night filled with culture, community, and festive fun.

Point Sur Lighthouse Halloween Tours

Point Sur Lighthouse is listed as one of the top ten most haunted lighthouses in America, making it one of the most haunted places in Monterey and a must visit this fall season. This lighthouse was constructed in 1889 and over the last 100 years it has seen its share of shipwrecks making it a haven for lost souls who perished along the coast. With over 20 active ghosts wandering this area, there is no end to the paranormal activity you will experience while walking around. There are special Halloween Tours on October 18th and October 25th at 5:30 p.m. that will take you on an evening of ghostly fun as you take a walking tour of the lighthouse and hear stories of Point Sur’s ghostly past while enjoying snacks and drinks. Carmel by the Sea Birthday Party and Parade

Celebrate Carmel-by-the-Sea’s 109th birthday with a dazzling parade filled with amazing performers and jaw-dropping floats. The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea was incorporated on Halloween in 1916, so to celebrate its birthday there is a Halloween Parade at 4pm through downtown Carmel. Back-to-Back Spooktacular at Peter B’s

Head down to Peter B’s between October 30th- November 1st between 7pm to 10pm to attend the Back-To-Back Spooktacular with live music from the Money Band Duo all three nights. With food specials such as Crypt Chips Fried Pickles, Feathers of Fear Chicken Tenders and drinks like the Mar-GHOUL-Rita and Frankenstein Fizz, Halloween has never been so delicious!
