Day 1

4pm Check-in to Portola Hotel & Spa

After a day of travel, settle into your coastal-inspired guest room, then head to Peter B's Brewpub, our on-site craft brewery, for a drink and dinner. Enjoy award winning brews and innovative pub food while you sit back and relax. After grabbing a bite, head back to your room to get some rest for the Monterey adventures ahead.

Day 2

9am Breakfast on Alvarado Street

The Portola Hotel & Spa is conveniently located near many great restaurants here in Monterey, and Alvarado Street is lined with some of the best breakfast spots in town. Just steps away is Crepes of Brittany, a little café that serves sweet crepes and savory galettes. If you're looking for a traditional American breakfast, head to Rosine's Restaurant for omelets, benedicts, and more. There are also several bakeries in the areas like Carmel Bakery (with access from our lobby), Ad Astra Bread Co, Alta Bakery, and Paris Bakery, if you're just looking for a pastry and cup of coffee.

10:30am Kayaking

See the bay up close by kayaking through the harbor. Witness barking harbor seals, sea otters swimming nearby, and more as you kayak through the bay. There are many places to rent kayaks with different launch points. Adventures by the Sea and Monterey Bay Kayaks are two options that are close by.

12pm Explore Carmel-by-the-Sea

Head over to downtown Carmel to explore this quaint European-style village. Wander through the area for shops, art galleries, courtyards, wine tasting rooms, and eateries. Carmel-by-the-Sea offers an unique shopping experience, and you're sure to find many great restaurant options for lunch too!

3pm 17-Mile Drive

Cruise through the famous 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach for some enchanting views of the Pacific. Be sure to stop at every point of interest for beautiful photo opportunities and more information. Admission is $11.75 per vehicle.

5:30pm Dinner at Old Fisherman's Wharf

Old Fisherman's Wharf is only a 3-minute walk from Portola Hotel & Spa, and is a great spot for activities like whale watching and souvenir shopping. Old Fisherman's Wharf also has several wonderful restaurants serving up fresh local seafood. Old Fisherman's Grotto, Café Fina, and Paluca Trattoria are great options for dinner.

7pm See a Show at the Golden State Theatre

End your first full day in Monterey, by seeing a show at the Golden State Theatre, just a short walk from the Wharf and Portola Hotel & Spa. The theatre hosts an array of shows from comedy to musical performances, and it's a great place for entertainment in the evening.

Day 3

9am Breakfast at Jacks Monterey

Start your day off right with a hot breakfast and cup of coffee at our on-site restaurant, Jacks Monterey. From savory omelets, sweet cinnamon toast, and more, we have you covered for a delicious way to start your day!
