Monterey, CA – August 4, 2014 Jacks Restaurant & Lounge has been graciously bestowed the Wine Spectator award for its wine program, fortifying its title as one of the leaders in the food and beverage sector. Located in the Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey Bay, California, Jacks Restaurant & Lounge has undergone a complete overhaul of its wine list within the last two years. The new and improved wine program now includes a selection of eclectic wines that are primarily from Monterey County and the Central Coast, as well as Napa Valley and Sonoma.

“We vastly improved our wine room, installed new wine racks and purchased several wine refrigerators in order to serve our wines at the best possible temperatures,” said Sonny Petersson, Portola Hotel & Spa’s Food and Beverage Director. “Our wine program is constantly revolving at Portola Hotel & Spa, which makes for an exciting place for both locals and visitors to dine."

Staying true to the hotel’s dedication to sustainability, draft wines have recently been installed in Peter B’s Brewpub. Draft wines are more environmentally friendly as it removes the glass, corks and wine boxes, in addition to less deliveries.
