11am Monterey Rec Trail

After breakfast, get some exercise in and enjoy the beautiful harbor view by taking a walk on the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. The Portola Hotel & Spa is a short walk away from the trail and roughly meets the trail in the middle. Head northwest towards Cannery Row and Lover's Point or head east to the beautiful Del Monte Beach. Many guests choose to rent surrey or standard bikes from Adventures by the Sea (just steps away from the Portola Hotel), and explore the trail that way as well.

12pm Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is known for their mesmerizing exhibits of marine life that lives in our Monterey Bay. The aquarium will inspire wonder and will allow you to learn about what makes the Monterey Bay so special. The aquarium is also a great lunch spot and serves a variety of dishes in their café. For now, the aquarium is taking visitors under reservations, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance at montereybayaquairum.org

7pm The Magic Fusion Show at the Monterey Magic & Comedy Club

After a day on your feet, sit down, relax, and enjoy an evening at the Monterey Magic & Comedy Club. The Magic Fusion stars are award-winning magicians from all over the globe, and assembled a high energy, family friendly production. The theatre is located in the Stanton Center Building, which is only a 3 minute walk from the Portola Hotel and Spa. For tickets and more information visit montereymagicclub.com. Also, for those who go to the show, and Jacks Monterey in the same night, you'll receive a 20% discount off your meal (not applicable on alcohol).

DAY 2

8am Breakfast on Alvarado Street

The Portola Hotel & Spa is conveniently located near many great restaurants here in Monterey. Alvarado Street, a local favorite, is lined with some of the best breakfast spots. Just to name a few, next door is Crepes of Brittany, a little café that serves sweet crepes and savory galettes, and just a little walk down the street is Old Monterey Café, serving classic American breakfast. There's also a number of great grab and go breakfast spots on Alvarado. To find out more about historic downtown Monterey and Alvarado Street visit oldmonterey.org.

10am Cannery Row

After a warm meal to start your day, head to historic Cannery Row. Cannery Row came to be at the turn of the century when the booming fishing industry soon needed the fish canning industry. In the years to come, the canneries in Monterey increased rapidly and bordered the Row. However, after World War II, sardines were sparse in the Monterey Bay, and this eventually led to the collapse of Monterey's fishing and canning industries. Today Cannery Row is a tourist and local favorite with beautiful views of the bay, fun shops, restaurants, and attractions. To learn more about what Cannery Row has to offer visit canneryrow.com.

2pm Asilomar State Beach

It wouldn't be a trip to Monterey without visiting at least one beach. Asilomar State Beach is a gorgeous area with beautiful trails, and the most scenic shores. Walk the paths and visit the rocky beaches with tide pools, where you'll find crabs, sea anemones, sand dollars and sea urchins. To learn more about this beach, visit parks.ca.gov.
